The party left it up to fate and tossed a die to see which of the three paths to take. Fate chose the
middle road. After about an hour of walking through a winding and boring tunnel
they found a larger chamber with stalactites and a large mushroom about ten to
twelve feet tall that looked grandmotherly. They decided to talk with it while
other party members looked for other mushrooms. Both Slim Jim and Lady Hestia
called out to the mushroom to no avail and Hestia saw something moving on the
ceiling by the stalactites, it looked like Dinak, but Dinak was back behind
her. She took a bolt to the neck and fell unconscious. The rest of the party leapt
into action, seeing they were not alone in the chamber. Three more figures became
visible, dropping fairy fire on Ront, Eldeth, and Dinak.
The drow were surprised
to see another drow in the company of the party and took a few shots at Dinak
to let him know they meant business. In the tunnel behind them they heard the
grinding of stone and the snarling of cave cat men. They party was trapped
between two fronts. Lady Hestia was shaken awake by her familiar Penelope, Xanaphia
launched elemental attacks at the drow, Slim Jim snuck on top of the mushroom
and hid within the folds from the drow, leaping out to shot an arrow at engaged
foes. One of the drow dropped from ceiling and knocked out Fione with one suite
of attacks, moving to tie her up. Ront was knocked out as well, and they
started to tie him up as well.
Fione was healed by Lady Hestia and pretended to be unconscious
but missed the drow with a flame blade when it tried to tie her up. Dinak was
shooting the three drow that dropped the Fairy fire spell to try to get the
effect off himself, after the third attempt he picked the correct one. The cat
men in the tunnel were momentarily stopped with the joint efforts of Eldeth,
Orion, and Annahatta, swords, fists, and spells took out the first wave.
The entire
group refocused their energy on the drow, knocking out two of them, causing the
drow to drop a darkness spell in the area, cutting off line of sight. The party
knew there was a cart, a massive slug with racing stripes, and a drow cart swain
along with the retreating drow. The group pushed through the darkens to find
the corpses of the two drow, their tied-up friend Ront, and another darkness blocking
the furthest part of the chamber. They heard odd noises and a stifled scream.
Xanaphia had stopped just within the darkness and felt fleshy teethed and eyed
tendrils lashing about. The party fought the gibbering mouther, dealing massive
amounts of damage to its foul bulk. The beast slain, the party pushed past the
darkness to find the cart swain headless, the slug must have been turned into
the mouther, and the drow were gone. The session ended there for the night.
